Not having pre-ordered the PlayStation 4 didn’t get in the way of me getting the console on launch day! Kudos to traditional retail stores and a friend who was willing to queue up early in the morning for me.
I was not able to enjoy my new console right away. Registration and activation of both the system itself and the games made me renew my distrust for services hosted on other people’s servers. It took most of Friday night to get the thing going.
Some of the PlayStation Network features had been disabled for the first launch weekend in Europe. With these services now enabled, and users with late shipping and pre-order pick-ups finally getting their consoles. It does not look well for gaming this coming weekend. My gameplay forecast for the PlayStation Network this coming weekend: Cloud-connected with a chance of actual gaming.
